Calendula is a herb known and valued for its medicinal and culinary uses, but also as a colorant. In ancient times, calendula blossoms were mixed in wine to relieve indigestion and the petals were used in ointments to heal skin irritations, jaundice, sore eyes, tooth and earaches.
Our calendula oil is obtained from wild crafted calendula flowers infused in bio-virgin olive oil. Rich in vitamin E, carotenoids, flavonoids, saponins and fatty acids, calendula oil has various healing properties and therefore many uses, soothing for skin irritations what makes it ideal for sensitive skin. As a natural moisturizer and emollient used for sun damaged skin, calendula oil stimulates the collagen in the skin, which can also lead to less wrinkles and a younger appearance. The anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties, help reduce swelling of tissues, and is often used on wounds (prevents scarring on healing wounds), ulcers, sores and to treat diaper rash, as it promotes rapid healing. Calendula oil also has anti-fungal properties, and can be used to stop fungal infections like athlete's foot. Topically it can be used for varicose veins, hemorrhoids, eczema, etc.
